A BACKUP PLAN
How much is your data worth to you? If you lost your laptop or if your hard drive crashed, would losing the data bother you? Of course it would! You have pictures, emails, documents, music - your whole life is on that device!
1. Backup all your electronic devices. That means your Blackberry and iPhone with all your contacts and calendar entries. Blackberrys and iPhones come with software to sync your device to a computer. Android phones automatically backup wirelessly to Gmail and Gmail calendar so those devices are constantly backed up.
2. Backup data on your computer daily. Either invest in an external hard drive with backup software or use an online backup service. Some external hard drives, called NAS (Network Attached Storage) plug into your router and allow all computers on your network to use the drive for either backup or storage.
Think about backing up on-site and off-site. An external hard drive is great until your home suffers damage. Then you lose your computer AND your backup. Off-site storage is easy since the services run in the background on your computer and keep your data backed up constantly.
